Talon's Top 6 list of Pirate101, and Happy New Year

Hey guys, Talon here, firstly, I want to wish you a Happy New Year :D, let this year be more awesome than the last. Anyway, for the second day of this week of posting I bring to you my list of top 6 features in Pirate101. Keep in mind this is my opinion ;). Feel free to put your top 6 features in the comments section below. Anyway, the features are not really in any real order, I like them all XD, these are just features that I think are very nicely represented. So lets get started!

1. The music and art- The music and art are just stunning! The Music really gives you a feel of adventure and danger, triumph and darkness, ect, and the art looks amazing, I love how the sand and the clouds look in this game. I want to thank Dave Greco(art) and Nelson Everhart for the amount of work they put into they're work. I don't think there is a Soundtrack for Wizard101 or Pirate101, but if there is one, I would buy it :D.

Gortez in all of his glory ;)

2. The Story line- WOW! The story line of Pirate101 is just amazing. It was really thought out, and something that may seem careless, comes back into the story later, but this time it is of vital importance.I am not going to tell the story line, here as not to spoil it for anyone, but just no that is awesome. I think I will begin a Lets-play series on my YouTube account. The Storyline is very deep, and refers back to lore and previous quests many, many times, yet is not boring and a chore to play like some quests were in Wizard101  Anyway, I love how even though Pirate101 can get tedious sometimes, but always the quests and the rewards are worth it. I do agree that Kingsisle could increase the rewards for some quests, but it is still okay if they don't. I was disappointed by one thing, the story for Valencia, the heart of the Armada, was SO SMALL! I finished it in like one day XD. I really want to see it expanded in the future. Come to think of it, Monquista could use another skyway lol. I also want to talk about the Puppet Shows, but that will be number 3.

3. The Puppet shows were an amazing idea, if you ever forget the lore, or what you are looking for ect, just refer back to them. Of course they don't really connect in a story fashion, but that really doesn't matter. I think we can all agree that there should be more of them available to collect :). Anyway, here are my favorite puppet shows, all credit goes to Deathshard.

Hey, that looks familiar....

LOL Monkey King,

You have got to love Gortez lol

4. I really like how Companions are. They aren't puppets that fight for you like pets were for you in Wizard101, almost like an item of clothing. Companions in Pirate101 are an important part of the storyline, as they speak to you during quests and have their own dialogue for everything. It really lets you "bond" with them, you cringe as Bonnie Anne gets knocked out, and smile when Sarah Steele criticals. I like their leveling up system, though it can be improved. I think that including the "Companion training points" they should get experience when winning a battle like you do, as that would be more realistic. Also I think it would be cool when you are flying on your ship in the skyways they walk on the deck of your ship, though this would probably only be practical for any ship other than the raft, where you should have only like 2 companions on deck with you, who stay in place. Speaking of flying through the skyways, lets get to the next feature.

5. I think flying through the skyways and stormgates of the Spiral is one of the best part of the game. I love
flying through the worlds, just looking at the beauty of the landscape. And with the special music for each world's skyways, its just a great experience  How this could be made better is pretty hard, as they made it pretty awesome already XD. But I came with 2 improvements that, I think, would add a lot to the game. One is accounting for the dangers of sea(or skyway) travel, there could be rouge winds that could make it harder to control your ship, random storms spawning that push your ship into a random direction ect. The second suggestion happens to deal with Broadside Combat. Now, I think it would be awesome if you could control the ships cannons like in Pirates of the Caribbean, or even Assassin's Creed III, you would have to point the cannons in the direction of the ship and press fire, but at the same time letting yourself become vulnerable. Also, other Pirates who are on board could help you with manning the cannons. But just my opinion ;)

6. Another great part of the game is the Combat system, which is a good change from the Dueling of Wizard101. I really like the Battleboard system, it introduces more strategy in gameplay. I also like that sometimes boss battles aren't just "Kill-everything-else-in-the-room" activities anymore, they have sub-objectives, like interacting with objects, solving minor puzzles ect. I think that makes the fights more entertaining, more like actual Boss fights would be in Real life.

Well that is my Top 6 list :). I am really enjoying Pirate101, and think that this is one of my favorite games of time. Anyway, see you tomorrow, and remember to check back here everyday of this week to see a new post. Thanks :)

Talon's (kind of) weekly W101 ideas 2, PvP ideas!

Hey guys :) Today I have the newest installment in Talon's weekly W101 ideas. I'm kind of thinking to make this a monthly thing, but who knows?. Anyway, lets get started!

So my ideas are basically trying to improve these two basic, yet crucial, parts of PvP.
  • The Spectator-ship
  • How everything looks( mainly what I am talking here is about the Arenas).
So lets start with "Spectator-ship". So currently you just find a match thats in session and watch. Most of the time you can't get a good view, your character's body and head block the battle. You can maybe bump up against a wall and remove your character from the camera, but your view is still not that good. You can't even see how much health each person has or anything! Something I think that would make watching PvP matches much cooler to watch would be the introduction of a "Arena view". Basically what this would be is a kind of "First Person view" which allowed flying over the arena and the ability to see how much health each player had. Your character would not be show to you and you could look around unhindered around the arena at the battle, while flying around the battle and getting a great view of the battle. They would also be able to get crucial information about the battle and such. I think this idea is quite simple, and would enhance the Spectator experience in PvP. I really think that more people would come to the Arena just to watch a battle lol.

I also wanted to talk about the Arena(s). So currently we have Wizard city, Krokotopia, Marelybone, Mooshu, Dragonspyre, and Grizzelhiem Arena's, but what about all the new worlds that were just discovered? Could you just imagine a Celestia, Wysteria, Zafaria, and Avalon? I had a few ideas of what they could look like:

Celestia- the arena for Celestia would be like a big dome surrounded by water. The floor would be the same type of stone seen in Celestia. here is a picture:

Wysteria arena- It could look like the arena when you fight Randolph to win the Wysteria tournemant. Here is a picture from this awesome site :) :

Zafaria arena- I think it would be best as the arena in the Sun Palace house. Here is a picture:

Avalon arena- this arena would be basically like a medieval jousting arena with weapon racks on the sides. I don't have any pictures for this one, but you can imagine :P.

So thats pretty much it :P Tell me how you like my ideas in the comments below :) Thanks for reading and.........

Talon's weekly W101 Ideas 1! Pet interactions!

Hey guys, I wanted to say that I am starting a new blog series called Talon's weekly W101 ideas. No, this is not the big thing mentioned in the last post lol, but i just wanted to do something like this. So this week's idea from me is:

Pets should be able to interact with each other, I know that you can already interact with your pets
( Using the Scolding Emoticon makes them run to the nearest wall and bow their head and be sad), but they don't interact with the other pets. I don't know hard it is to code this, but it might be hard, as each pet might have a different action to every pet, but it seemed like a good idea :P. Maybe KI could make it so that it each pet has a "friendliness counter" with each pet. It would perform a random action when near that pet. The more positive actions  towards that pet, the higher the "counter" gets. Negative actions lower the counter. I would like to use the ninja pig's actions as an example of the negative and positive actions. The ninja pig presently does two actions, A bow, and then a sword pose. When he bows he does a positive action, when he uses his sword he does a negative action. There could be more actions, but so far that's all I could think of. They could maybe group with their "friends" or higher Friendliness counter pets.  The counters would be invisible, as a pet might have many diferent friendliness counter's going on at once(each with a different pet). Here is a table to show How it could work, arrows in red means that it gave action that are negative, arrows in green mean that it gave actions that are positive, and FC means Friendliness counter:

Ninja Pig 1 -> Ninja Pig 2= FC of Ninja pig 2 goes down whenever Ninja Pig 2 sees Ninja pig 1 and it is more likely to do a negative action towards Ninja Pig 1.

Ninja pig 3 -> Ninja pig 4= FC of Ninja pig 4 goes up when Ninja pig 4 sees Ninja pig 3 and is more likely to do a positive action towards Ninja Pig 3.

What does all this mean? Its is seriously going to lag out your computer :P

Lol again, I don't know how hard it could be too code this :P, but I know that Wizard101 is going to lag a lot when you go into a highly crowded room of pets, your computer is going to have a very hard time keeping up with all those calculations :P. So I made an new idea which is that each pet has a happiness counter, Which is shown by a meter above the pet's head as shown below:

Each meter is the same length long, but is divided into Red and Green by the percentages of Happiness and Unhappiness. The Red on the meter is how much unhappiness and the Green is happiness. The Green and Red can raise or lower by different actions by yourself and the other pets. When it is very low the pet will do the "Scolding" animation. To make it happy you could spend time with it or the other pets do "Positive actions toward it".  It could work like plant's dislikes and likes. The Happiness level also could depend on the environment, example is in a fire house a snowman pet would have a low happiness level. Eating certain pet snacks could also raise the Happiness levels. The happier a pet is, the more chance it has of helping you in a battle. Another Idea I had was that pets should be able to have a "home" of sorts. They could find a random place in your house and mark it "theirs" with a kind of message the send to all the other pets. All the other pets will avoid it and not settle there, and the only ones who can come there are the ones who have gotten a lot of friendliness counter points with the "home" owner. They could occasionally walk out and explore and such, but they will always return to their "house" eventually. You could raise your Pet's happiness level by furnishing it's home (or corner). Here is an example of it in a square wizard, the green area is a pet's house, the red circles are pets who have not yet gotten the clearance to come yet and are moving away from it and the white inside the black square is the Wizards house:

This would preferably work outside, but I guess it could work inside too.

Lol I think I am going to call it Interactive Pet update idea 2. 0, LOL

Well that's my idea, tell me how you like in the comments, and don't forget that something really big is coming towards you in the next few days :D
